Build Timeline
This page records the key dates in our home build journey.
Summary
The first key date was the completion of earthworks on 27 February 2026.
The slab was poured on 17 March 2026.
After slab down, there was a prolonged period without substantive construction activity observed on site.
That period lasted 108 days.
3 July 2027 Revised PCI date
We’ve been advised that the practical completion inspection, or PCI, date has been revised to 3 July 2027.
This revised PCI date is more than 16 months after earthworks.
For context this is a house which is small by Perth build standards. It has a total area of 159.15 sqm (ground floor 111.42 sqm, garage 32.83 sqm, alfresco 12.52 sqm, porch 2.38 sqm).
For us, PCI is also not the same as being move-in ready. Under our contract, flooring outside wet areas and wall painting are not included, so additional works will still need to be arranged after handover.
Why this timeline matters
A build timeline is not just a construction schedule.
For a homeowner, each date affects real life.
It affects how long a family needs to keep living somewhere else.
It affects rent, mortgage planning, savings and contingency funds.
It affects when post-handover works can be booked.
It affects moving arrangements, utilities, work, school and family routines.
It affects the emotional stress of living with uncertainty.
Behind every construction file is a person or family trying to plan their life.
